YOU ARE NEXT EPISODE 1😱
“My landlord accidentally rented me an apartment but warned me never to open one of the doors.”
The reason I moved into the house was because of how very cheap it was. It was a two-bedroom apartment in a well-developed area, but it was going for the price of a single room apartment.
I rushed to pay for it because it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I even asked a few neighbors about the environment, and they all recommended it.
On the day I was moving in, I coincidentally ran into an old friend. He was excited for me and praised me for the "upgrade." But I was confused—this place was way cheaper than my previous apartment.
"Guy, I haven’t upgraded oo. This place is even cheaper compared to my old apartment," I told him.
"Four million naira cheap? Compared to your single-room apartment worth around 500k?" he replied.
I was shocked. I was only paying 300k. And he was living in the same type of two-bedroom apartment as mine. So how was mine so cheap?
Although my flat was a bit isolated from the others, it didn’t make much difference since it was just as well furnished.
Then he leaned closer and added, “Just be careful. Tenants who move into that specific flat… they usually leave without anyone knowing why.”
I wanted to mention how much I had actually paid, but I didn’t want to cause any commotion, so I kept quiet and decided to enjoy my good luck.
Two days after moving in, I tried to open the door to the second room, but it wouldn't open. It felt like the key I had didn’t match the lock.
I went to the landlord, and he told me to avoid the room if I wanted peace with him.
I wasn’t okay with his response—after all, I paid for the whole apartment.
After some back and forth, he suddenly offered a strange deal: I could stay in the house for free—as long as I completely avoided the second room.
Thinking he was joking, I agreed. To my shock, he immediately transferred my rent back to me.
As I was about to leave his compound, his young son came running out. In his rush, he accidentally dropped a note. I picked it up but said nothing. I was too happy with the deal I’d just gotten.
A few days later, I began to notice a foul smell coming from the locked room. It was as so bad as though something dead was behind the door. The entire house became almost unbearable to live in.
I reported it to the landlord, and he promised to take care of it. Strangely, he never entered the house—but somehow, the smell vanished.
I kept wondering how the smell disappeared without the door ever being opened. I thought about calling him again, but I decided not to. After all, I was living there for free.
That evening, while washing my clothes, I stumbled upon the note the boy had dropped. I opened it—and what I read made my heart stop.
“Leave that house and never return. You're next.”
